1400년을 대표하는 수태고지 회화로 3편을 소개합니다.
1450년에 그린 세상에서 가장 아름다운 '수태고지(受胎告知·Annunciation)'라고 부르는 프라 안젤리코(Fra Angelico, 1400~1455)의 산 마르코 수도원에 그려진 수태고지이다.

1400년을 대표하는 수태고지 회화는 1450년에 그린 프라 안젤리코(Fra Angelico, 1400~1455)의 산 마르코 수도원에 그려진 세상에서 가장 아름다운 '수태고지(受胎告知·Annunciation)'이다.
가브리엘 천사가 야외로 마리아를 방문하는 유형의 그림을 처음으로 그린 화가가 프라 안젤리코라고 합니다. 일반적인 수태고지 그림은 실내에서 성모 마리아를 가브리엘 천사가 방문하는게 일반적이다. 수도사 화가인 프라 안젤리코는 프라(Fra)는 수도사들의 이름 앞에 붙이는 호칭으로 ‘형제’라는 뜻이고, 안젤리코는 ‘천사 같은’ 뜻이니 ‘천사 같은 수도사 형제’가 되겠다. 본명이 구이도 디 피에트로인 그는 청년기에 채색 삽화가로 도제 수업을 받고 화가로 활동하다 23세에 도미니크회 수도원에 들어가 수도사가 됐습니다. 훗날 피에솔레에서 수도원장까지 지냈을 정도로 신심이 두터웠던 그는 기도의 행위 신앙생활의 실천으로 그림을 그렸다.
